Welcome back to Tai Chi Sifu.
As new students start their Tai Chi and Chi Kung training for Health and Martial Arts by watching their walk, most people are unaware of their posture. It struck me how important being aware of posture is and how unaware people are to good posture.
Tip number 1:- keep your tailbone tucked in
2:- keep your knees comfortably bent to avoid injury.
People that are on their feet all day i.e. shop assistants, massage therapists etc. need to be aware of how to stand to relieve the pressure on their lower backs and for that matter those who sit a lot in front of computers behind desks and so on, good posture applies to them as well.
Correct posture whilst walking opens the Chi channels in the body to allow Chi and blood circulation to flow uninterrupted. Have you noticed how the head tends to drop, chin towards your chest? The head is heavy and tends to do this which in turn blocks the Chi channels causing neck pain and headaches. It’s important to look ahead at all times and keep the head up and chin tucked in, in order to avoid and relieve pain at the back of the neck.
So be aware of the bad habits we develop over time because they will not go away overnight. We need to be aware of them at all times in order to correct bad posture.
The benefits of good posture are just too numerous to mention.
Try it and feel the difference.
As the year 2011 has just started let this year be one of great strength, health and success. The most important mission for 2011 is to invest in your health which brings me to the topic of balance. In Tai Chi balance and creating internal harmony is critical.
There’s 24 hours in a day, we are to work for 8 hours, sleep for 8 hours and have fun for 8 hours. How do you find harmonious balance in your life?
It is vital for our health and wellbeing to create balance and strength and also to be flexible. In this year of The Metal Rabbit, find the time to practice this magical healing and martial art in order to find peace, strength and balance. Encourage friends and family to do the same. The benefits are great and will keep you healthy in body, mind and spirit.
Wishing all my readers success in 2011.
